Closure Project Day Three

Day three in continuing in my effort to get my mother’s remains to the Pacific. People have been very kind, and exceptionally generous so far, and we’re making progress faster than I could have imagined.

My mother passed away suddenly in the afternoon on April 16th. She was diabetic and her sugar had plummeted earlier that day. Refusing to go to the hospital, she asked that I bring her home from work, because it wasn’t safe for her to drive. My siblings and I drove out to her work, collected her and her car, and took her home.

Despite following her doctors orders — which we simply to feed her and get her sugar back up, then put her to bed — she passed away that same afternoon. I called 911 and tried to resuscitate her, stopping only when the ambulance arrived, but it was no good. Either I didn’t have the skill, or she was too far gone. I prefer to think the later, but I just don’t know.

Mom was a wonderful lady, she loved helping people, and was always more concerned with taking care of others than with taking care of herself. The only thing she ever really told me about her wishes in regards to dealing with her remains was that she never end up buried. Instead, she told me, she wanted to be cremated and scattered in the Pacific ocean, ‘the one she never got to see’.

It is that dream that I’m trying to make come true for her, but I desperately need help to fulfill that wish. My sibling are unemployed and my job barely pays for necessities around the house. So now I’m looking to Tumblr, so famous for it’s charity, to help me make my mother’s final wish a reality.

What We Need To Raise: It’s going to cost around $1000 dollars in gas to get us there and back, and possibly more considering the fluctuation of gas prices. It will also cost at least on night in a hotel on the way there, back, and while we’re in California, which means at least another $400. Plus emergency cash (accidents on the road, stranded an extra day or so) and stopping for food, I’ll say we need to raise around $2000 dollars to make this trip.

We Have Raised $(10)90 of $2000.

With the generous pledge of $1000 dollars from a currently wishing-to-be-unnamed friend, we are now over the halfway-mark!
